Cover Reveal | Just One Cup by Cassandra Giovanni

Hello my wonderful awesome supertastic followers!
I have a spectacular new cover to reveal. I've been excited about this book and I blame it all on the author, Cassandra Giovanni! Yep, all completely your fault Cassandra! All those teasers! Why must you torture me in that manner!? Ok I forgive you :D Yeah I fold like a road map when it comes to books.
RELEASE DATE: JUNE 20, 2013
Book Description:
Emma Walker was a writer who'd lost herself to someone else's anger--who had given up on ever feeling like herself again.
Evan Levesque was a rock-god--the one all the woman wanted, but he'd never gotten used to the loneliness between the stage and real life.
With just one cup of coffee they'll begin a journey of self-discovery at each others sides, but can Emma handle Evan's fame while dealing with her own demons? Emma's checkered personal past, a bad relationship that haunts the edges of her memories, threatens to make everything implode on them when Evan takes matters into his own hands.
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your words...they'll destroy my soul--Can Emma handle being put back together and facing who she's become because of it?
GENRE: New Adult>Contemporary Romance

I really like the cover. Simple. Uncomplicated.
I like how the model looks like he's actually thinking about something important. What? No idea. That sort of mystery is always fun to figure out.
Musicians? You know it's always a HECK YES!
So what say you?
Do you like the cover?
Excerpt:
When he came off the plane he was wearing aviators, a black button-up, dark wash jeans and those Converse shoes that I hated on anyone but him. He lifted his sunglasses and broke into a smile as I ran into his arms. He dropped his bag and spun me around as soon as I was in his arms.
"How did you know?" he asked as he set me on the ground, his hands tangled in my hair.
"You told me what flight you were on."
He shook his head and held my chin in his hand. "I've always wanted to have someone to wait for me—to spin them around and then do this."
He pulled my chin up and tilted it until our lips touched—soft at first and then the reminder that we hadn't kissed in two months came over us. The only thing that could pull us apart was the whistle that echoed through the terminal and then the incessant flash of cameras.
"Crap," Evan hissed, his forehead pressed to mine with his hands on either side of my face so they couldn't get a good picture of me. "You don't want them to know who you are yet, do you?"
I shook my head but said with my voice shaking, "I knew the risk."
He swallowed and then smiled. "Tilt your head down so that your hair covers your face from view."
I did what he said and then felt his hands slip the glasses over my eyes. As I looked up his cocky half-smile made me laugh.
"They look a hell of a lot hotter on you," he teased, throwing his duffel bag over his shoulder and wrapping his arm around my waist so that his fingers were in the front pocket of my jeans.
"I don't think that's possible," I replied, breathless from the feel of his touch as my t-shirt rose, exposing the flesh of my hip to his warmth.
"It’s very possible with you," he whispered into my ear as we made our way past the flashing cameras. "I can't wait to see the tabloids on this one."
"It would be much better if we did something dangerous, like locked ourselves in a public restroom."
He looked down at me through his eyebrows. "Really? That's not all that clean."
"I haven't seen you in two months," I said, turning and stopping in front of him. "I've thought about you every single day. Do you know what that does to a girl? Especially when pictures of you half-naked are strewn across the internet."
"I see you found those." His voice was edged with amusement, but his face was red in embarrassment.
I pulled on the collar of his shirt before leaning up on my toes and whispering into his ear, "I need some real ones."
"What do you need pictures of when I'm here?" he answered, his breath hot on my chin, voice seductive.
"I need you to burn the images into my mind then," I said before gently biting his ear.
His free hand drifted down the small of my back to my rear pocket. "I thought I already had."
"Mhmm...I need more."
"I have to admit I kind of enjoy this." He smirked down at me. "But teasing me like this is just cruel."
"Does the rental car have blacked out windows?" I asked over my shoulder as I turned.
I watched his Evan's Adam’s apple rise and fall. "I sure hope so."

Promo Post | Elsker by S.T. Bende

Elsker (The Elsker Saga #1)Book Title: Elsker
by S.T. Bende
Series Title: The Elsker Saga
Release: April 22, 2013
Genre: New Adult Paranormal Romance
Word count: 61,000 words.
Publisher: Entranced Publishing, Blush

Blurb:
Kristia Tostenson prefers Earl Grey to Grey Goose and book clubs to nightclubs,
but when she transfers from her one-stoplight town to Cardiff University in Wales she
falls in love with Ull Myhr. Her new boyfriend isn’t exactly what she was expecting.
He’s an honest-to-goodness Norse God — an immortal assassin fated to die at Ragnarok,
the battle destined to destroy Asgard and Earth. Kristia’s crazy visions are the only thing
that can save their realms.
Her orderly life just got very messy.
Excerpt:
At eight o’clock, a firm knock interrupted my reading. I picked my way
through the flower shop that our living room had become and opened the door.
“Oh good, you kept my peace offerings.” Ull treated me to a rakish grin.
“Just a few of them,” I muttered. “Come on in.”
“Oh, no. You must come with me.”
“Why?” I challenged. Ull sighed.
“Are you going to fight me at every turn?”
“Probably.”
“Please come.” He looked so adorable standing on my stoop, his scarf casually
thrown across the grey sweater under his coat. I gave in quicker than I meant to.
“Fine.” I grabbed my coat from the closet by the door and shoved my keys and
wallet into the pocket. “Where are we off to?” I closed the door behind me and followed
Ull into the brisk night, waiting for his promised explanation.
But he didn’t say anything. Instead, he put his hand on the small of my back
and guided me away from campus. I shivered and noticed that Ull wore his jacket open,
at ease in the chill. As we rounded the corner, Ull dropped his hand to clasp mine. It was
so warm, so strong, and for a moment I forgot to be mad at him. We walked in silence as
he led me down the main road. After two right turns, I found myself standing in a quiet
garden.
Ull had brought me to a church.

Cast In Shadow (Chronicles of Elantra #1) by Michelle Sagara

Reviewer: Bobbi
Read in April
Pages: 512 Kindle Edition

GoodReads Summary:

Seven years ago Kaylin fled the crime-riddled streets of Nightshade, knowing that something was after her. Children were being murdered—and all had the same odd markings that mysteriously appeared on her own skin...
Since then, she’s learned to read, she’s learned to fight and she’s become one of the vaunted Hawks who patrol and police the City of Elantra. Alongside the winged Aerians and immortal Barrani, she’s made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.

But children are once again dying, and a dark and familiar pattern is emerging, Kaylin is ordered back into Nightshade with a partner she knows she can’t trust, a Dragon lord for a companion and a device to contain her powers—powers that no other human has. Her task is simple—find the killer, stop the murders... and survive the attentions of those who claim to be her allies.

Bobbi's Thoughts

Hello readers! I am back from vacation and have a cool book to share with you! When I started Cast in Shadow I seriously had NO idea what this story was about. A friend of mine convinced to give it try since I am all about that fantasy and paranormal story lines. Part of me is really glad I went in with no knowledge because this story is like nothing I have read before, which really surprised me. Cast in Shadow is definitely a little more challenging of read then most of the books I have shared with you all, so if your looking for a new challenge, give this one a shot.

Now you maybe asking, why was this more challenging then others I have read. Well to answer that, the language has a larger vocabulary. Some words I actually has to use my built in dictionary on my kindle. I love learning new words, so I did not mind and did not take away from the story.

Overall, I rated Cast in Shadow 3/5 birdies because while I enjoyed the story and characters (another heroine you guessed it!), the author uses third person throughout the whole book. I am the type of reader who enjoys authors who use 1st person because I like to get into the characters shoes. It was hard to "become" the character while the narration was done in third person. A few parts of the story  especially near the beginning to middle were a little confusing as well. On plus side, this is a series with 8 books out! So if your looking for a new series or need time to kill between books being released, give Cast in Shadow  a try :)

The Mackenzie Legacy by Derrolyn Anderson

Genre: Romance, YA, paranormal
Reviewer: Hannah

Synopsis (Goodreads):

As their story continues, Calvin and Caledonia find themselves madly in love, on the run, and nearly out of money. When Cal stumbles upon a way to cash in on Cali's powers, their life on the road becomes a life of leisure. Despite the easy money and newfound luxury, Caledonia's conscience begins to trouble her.

A disturbing warming only serves to confirm her misgivings, making her question her purpose in life. Finally, a shocking discovery about the true nature of her powers points the way forward, sending the two Cals on a dangerous rescue mission.

Caledonia tries her best to right the wrongs of the past, but will she only end up provoking new and even more dangerous enemies?

Review:

I reviewed the first book in Derrolyn Anderson's paranormal romance series a few months ago, if you haven't read that yet, you should probably go do that, so as not to be confused out of your mind by this review. (Click to go on a magical adventure beyond the valley of rainbows and gumdrops. If not that, then at least do it for the free waffles. C'mon. Nobody hates waffles.)

Ahhhhh....so the time has come. The Mackenzie Legacy is upon us, peoples!! Prepare yourselves! Don those helmets! Snarf that mutton! Finish that sit-up! Polish that sword (get it squeaky clean)!

I'm just gonna say it straight: I liked it. Derrolyn's writing is great, her story is structured and well-paced. Bring on the next one!

The Mackenzie Legacy mainly follows Cali and Calvin as they're on the road, getting cozy in motel rooms and abusing The Athena Effect for gain. I'm not going to do a story breakdown though, because some serious schlit goes down and I ain't intending to spoil nothing. (<--Can that be a double negative? Do I indeed intend to spoil something? Stay tuned!)

I like how this story has a little bit of everything in it. It's a paranormal romance, a sci-fi thriller, a crime drama...it'll satisfy most any genre craving you may be having (unless you like poetic westerns, in which case, STOP READING NOW, because there's only disappointment and despair ahead for you. Go now, my dear reader, and wrap yourself in the warm comforts of chocolate and Buffy reruns...)

I think the biggest thing I didn't like about the book was how much of a love-slave Calvin was. You know that kind of character. They're so madly, deeply, truly in love that they'll sacrifice their body, soul, and modern comfort of the toilet to protect and cherish their eternal loved one.

I mean, don't get me wrong, wuvv, twuuue wuvv (reference photo A on the right please) is a beautiful thing. In fact, I appreciate a hero and heroine who can fully appreciate each other.

But come ON. As much as Calvin loves Cali, as much as he'd die for her, he's still his own person. He has his own life to think about. I mean, just imagine it: being with Cali now is incredible and breathtaking. I believe that he'll love her forever. But eventually he'll get restless if his goal in life is aiding in Cali's life goals. Honestly, I think he'd develop a "sidekick complex" and start feeling like his dreams and aspirations always come second to Cali's.

But hey, maybe I'm overthinking things.

Besides that, I really enjoyed everything else. As I said before, Derrolyn just has a way with writing. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about her stories that distinguish her work from the masses of other mediocre paranormal romance.

Check it out. It has my official seal of approval.

As their story continues, Calvin and Caledonia find themselves madly in love, on the run, and nearly out of money. When Cal stumbles upon a way to cash in on Cali’s powers, their life on the road becomes a life of leisure. Despite the easy money and new-found luxury, Caledonia’s conscience begins to trouble her.

A disturbing warning only serves to confirm her misgivings, making her question her purpose in life. Finally, a shocking discovery about the true nature of her powers points the way forward, sending the two Cals on a dangerous rescue mission.

Caledonia tries her best to right the wrongs of the past, but will she only end up provoking new and even more dangerous enemies?

"Before we pass through the opening, we see the battle in the courtyard. Compared to this, out own fight to escape was child's play. Men play the parts or murderers in a game of death."

Terra (Terrestrials, #1)Terra
by Gretchen Powell
Paperback, 286 pages
Published December 12th 2012 by Hopewell Media

Premise:
A broken and desolate Earth. A young girl struggling to survive. A lost boy with a powerful secret.

A discovery that will change everything.

In the distant wake of a plague that has decimated the Earth's population, humanity is split in two: The rich and powerful live in skycities that float overhead, while those who remain on the ground have gathered in settlements strewn across a dying planet. Eighteen-year-old Terra Rhodon is a terrestrial--a denizen of the barren groundworld--who makes her living as a scav. Long abandoned by her father, her caregivers gone, Terra supports herself and her younger brother, Mica, by scouring the earth for discarded scraps and metals to recycle for profit. One day, while on a routine scavenging run, she discovers something that shocks her home settlement of Genesis X-16. When the value of her discovery is revealed, Terra's world is turned upside down.

Terra suddenly finds herself asking questions no one will answer. Her search for the truth leads her to Adam--a beguiling skydweller unlike any she has ever met. But Adam has secrets and a quest of his own, and with him by her side, the world Terra thought she knew begins to unravel. Soon her discoveries unearth a terrifying conspiracy that has the potential to shatter everything--a revelation that will test the bonds of loyalty, family, and love.

 My Thoughts:
Warning! This book may surprise and amaze you!
Terra started out very much how I expected it to and that's where it all ends. Terra is a pretty awesome character. She's lost so many people and yet she's still a baddie. She's going to take care of her brother and get into a few scraps on the way. *chuckles* Oh the scrapes! I thought I knew what was going to happen with Terra but I had it so wrong! Just as Terra, I didn't suspect ANYTHING when it came to the love interest, Adam! I had the shocked, jaw drops to the floor, VERY audible gasp sort of reaction (those are always the greatest kind of reaction when reading a new book. Can't have it be too predictable can we?). Here I thought he was maybe a...ah I can't say! It'll narrow down what and who he is too much and it'll spoil it. Lets just say it'll surprise you. *smiles knowingly*

Although it was a tad bit slow for me at the beginning as soon as things pick up it gets VERY interesting. There are chases, discoveries, and most of all intrigue. Adam is an intrigue, the object she found is an intrigue, and oh did I mention Adam? Yes? Alright, lets say that the world may not revolve around him but he is a component for the world to change. If only he'd give in, of course.

I love when books have me laughing! Here is one that had me giggling like a little girl and not for what you may think. Check it.
"Why don't we just assume from now on that I'm just generally freaked out all the times?"
And that's at the beginning before the biggest secret was exposed!
Also there was this one that I just loved.
"This doesn't seem like such a solid idea. What if the floor collapses?"
"I've caught you every other time, haven't I?"
Read it! It's a great one! Sort of reminds of David Estes' Moon Dwellers but at the same time it doesn't. I don't know if that makes sense to you. Either way it's so good you HAVE to read it! I think you'll definitely enjoy all the intrigue and the Adam *cough cough* and of course Terra!
 I've Rated Terra:

Cover Reveal | To Be Maria by Deanna Proach

Hello!
It's been quite a long time since I've done a cover reveal and I'm very excited about this one! Today's reveal is from author Deanna Proach and its such a nice cover! Lets have a look also we! First here's a little bit about it.

Release date, May 1, 2013 on Amazon Kindle (published through the KDP Select program). Tentative Amazon Giveaway dates: May 10-14th.

Synopsis:
Seventeen-year-old Anya Preschnikov wants to become a famous actress but she's faced with two problems. Her father ignores her and doesn't have any money to support her. At school, she's bullied on a daily basis, yet she believes that she will gain her stepping-stone to stardom if she's accepted by her peers.
All of this changes when Maria Hernandez--an immigrant from Spain--comes to Peach Valley Senior High. Maria knows what it takes to fit in. She's assertive, confident and she dresses suggestively, characteristics that all of the popular kids admire. Yet she sees in Anya what no one else sees: beauty and talent.
When Maria extends her hand of friendship, Anya is elated. Her rise to popularity is about to become a reality, but it ends at a house party when a boy's rude comment sends her into a rage.
Desperate to belong somewhere, Anya and Maria seek new friends outside of school. They meet Alex and Marissa, a young couple who eagerly welcomes them into their world of parties and drugs. Anya and Maria soon find out that Alex is a drug dealer, but they are so lured by his wealth, good looks and aggressive confidence that they can't resist his friendship. They don't know that Alex's gang is at war with a rival gang--one that's run by Anya's older brother, Adrik--until one incident puts their lives in danger's path. To make matters worse, Alex won't let Anya and Maria out of his sight. The two teens are forced to make a decision that's a matter of life or death.
I like it! It depicts the synopsis brilliantly, I think! I love that it looks kind of dark. Mysterious. Reminds me of the book covers I grew up with in the 90's for some reason. So what do you think?
