Genre: YA Dystopian.
Formats Available for Purchase: Paperback (only at Amazon) Kindle, epub and Smashwords.
Dazz, a hard-edged, fun-loving Icer, likes fighting, particularly while at his favorite watering hole. However, while recovering from a particularly bad break up, his decision to engage in a brutal pubroom brawl leads to a series of events that thrust him into a dark and mysterious scandal involving King Goff, the ice country ruler.
When his seven-year-old sister is abducted in the dark of night, Dazz pledges to do whatever it takes to get her back, embarking on a quest that threatens to rip apart the very fabric that's barely holding his shattered family together. Along the way he meets a group of unlikely allies in the form of a travelling group of fire country natives. Can Dazz, when joined with his best friend, Buff, and new tan-skinned friends, defeat the King and his guards before it's too late for his sister?
I should stop trying to guess how David's books will go because I'm always pleasantly wrong! They are more than I expect.
Although Perry is still my favorite character in the Country Saga, Dazz and Buff come come very close. These two are so funny I think I was laughing throughout the whole book! No matter what situation those two are able to find a way out (or in) of every situation with smiles. Dazz in particular was awesome! I can relate so much to him throughout the book. Not because of the being a guy but because I to know what its like to have a temper and working towards keeping it in check. Takes a lot of growth and maturity to not give in to our tempers. Brava for Dazz! Buff on the other hand had my tummy hurting! Especially this one part where he's in a cell and trying to be smooth! You're just going to have to read it to know what I mean! One of the things I loved was that they just reminded me so much of me with one of my friends when we're together! THREE thumbs up, David!)
From bar fights to gambling, Ice Country had me reeling, laughing, gasping, and probably making the funniest expressions anyone had seen! David just knows how to make these rollercoasters fun and entertaining. Just when you think you have it figured out BAM! there's a loop and you're being thrown through it! How you buckled in your seatbelt!
Ok so there is this one part that just cracks me up. Shh, don't tell David I told you but they're in the cells and he feels the need totell a girl that she's pretty! Hahaha! Ok I can't tell you anything else but it's so funny!
Even though Fire Country is still my favorite, as with the characters, Ice Country comes in close after. Overall, if you haven't read it yet or haven't picked up your copy well we might not be able to be friends anymore. Joking! Seriously though, I haven't been disappointed with any of David's books and Ice Country does not disappoint! Read it! I've rated Ice Country:
