EVERBOUND by Brodi Ashton! (Everneath #2)Goodreads Synopsis: Nikki Beckett would only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away. Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself. Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.

What I thought about it: More often then not I am usually a bit disappointed in the sequel to a book that I really loved but Everbound did not disappoint. Although the storyline differed quite a bit from Everneath, I thought it was a logical progression from where the story left off. Not only do we get to learn more about what kind of person Nikki really is but we also learn more about several other characters including Cole. I found it really interesting reading about the realm of Everneath and what was similar and different from the surface.
Although Nikki loves Jack and is determined to find a way to rescue him, she struggles with exactly how she feels about Cole. There is plenty of different challenges they face along their journey to keep you reading. I did find a few scenes within the story that didn't really seem necessary at the time, especially some of the scenes when Nikki returned to the surface so she could sleep to keep the connection to Jack, but they all tied in towards the end of the book.
For obvious reasons I'm not going to say if Nikki and Jack are reunited, but I will say this... watch out for the big twist in the end! I really enjoyed this book and cant wait to see what is going to happen next.
I give this book 4.5/5 birdies.
