The Host by Stephanie Meyer

The Host by Stephanie Meyer
Read from November 25, 2012 to January 01, 2013. 809 Pages

GoodReads Synopsis:
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.

Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

Bobbi's Thoughts
I put off reading this book for so long because I was worried I was going to hate it. The whole body snatcher concept in general freaks me out a little and plus I'm a true Twihard fan! I love the Twilight Saga books and movies (yes i love the movies too). With that being said I didn't want to not like The Host and have it tarnish my love for Twilight :P

The Host  is a worth while read. It shows Stephanie Meyer's level of writing. I feel like this story was better written than the Twilight Saga and is more versatile. Her level of vocabulary is larger then what you would read during Twilight  Meyer has quite a bit of description of the new world she created. I do wish that others who are not fans of Twilight would give Stehanie Meyer a chance with this book, because this really was wodnerful and fun read.Probably her best yet.

I'm not gonna lie, the book started off a little slow, mainly due to Meyer setting the stage of the book so that is to be expected. The first few chapters are a little confusing because you are not sure who is speaking. It is important to pay attention to those details given in the beginning!

The Host really had my attention throughout the whole book because I like to associate with my characters, and Melanie/Wanda are characters easily associated with. I did feel like the book wanted you to stay true to the human race and root for Melanie and Jared but honestly I loved Wanda and Ian. I guess you will have to read it now if you wanna find out what happens :P

The ending caught me by surprise but I loved it! I was worried because the last section of the book you are left wondering if they are going to go through with it and then BLAMMM something happens and your left going "What just happened!!"

Now The Host  is longer book then most of the books I read. It sits at 809 pages. There is plenty of time to read it before the movie comes out which i am super excited for!!

 5/5 Birds :]

Happy Reading!
