Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
And she, for whatever reason, spares his life
My Thoughts on Anna Dressed in Blood:
*bit of spoilers!*
I very much enjoyed Anna Dressed in Blood.
Although I thought the falling in love with the the killer ghost was a bit cliche I liked it. The ghost, Anna, was not who I was expecting at all. I mean it's described how she kills people in gory detail and I loved every word of it. Yes she was a poor girl who happened to have been caught in this world after death but she was also a vicious killer and that is one thing that I really enjoyed. Usually I've read books where the ghost has accidentally killed a couple people but they still seem to find redemption and go off into the white light. Anna is not that ghost!
The killer hiding out in the attic? Lame! What killer hides out in the attic giving his victims nightmares? If you're there and the person you are trying to get rid of is there sleeping just go for it! This guy was just pathetic! I will admit though that the killer was not who I was expecting, I went through the whole list of characters and it turns to be someone completely different! Don't you just love the surprises?!
The story was great. You know in the movies when that dumb girl is in the house with the killer and she's going into the room where he's waiting for her and all the while your yelling at her to run the other way? I, too, was yelling at the book. "RUN CAS RUN!" or "SHE'S GOING TO KILL YOU!" sort of stuff! This book brought out those types of reactions from me.
If you haven't already read it I highly suggest you do because it's really good! GO! What are you waiting for?
I've Rated Anna Dressed in Blood: (4/5)
