The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
My Thoughts on Half Blood:
Very annoyed with this book! Yes! I know a whole lot of people love it but nope not me!
First off Vampire Academy came out in 2007 whereas Half Blood came out in 2011. There are too many similarities in these two books to not think plagiarism!
Here are the similarities:
- Rose leaves the school with someone
- Alex leaves the school with someone
- Rose has Dimitri (who is a legend in the Dhamphir world) stand up for her
- Alex has Aiden (who is a legend in the Pure blood world) stand up for her
- Rose has Dimitri training her
- Alex has Aiden training her
- Rose has someone she cares about very much turn evil
- Alex has someone she cares about very much turn evil
- Rose is a half blood
- Alex is a half blood
- Rose has Dimitri find her and bring her back to the school
- Alex has Aiden find her and bring her back to the school
Ok seriously shall I go on and on? Nah I think you get my point. I am Vampire Academy all the way on this one because it came first and Russians trump the Greek gods any day in my book.
Alex was a very whiny, annoying, teenager. I mean I know many of us were annoying too as teenagers but Alex was wayyyyyy over the top. The characters are a complete failure because they weren't even as spunky as the VA characters. No originality Ugh I am just disappointed.
If you were going to read Half Blood don't bother. Read Vampire Academy instead it's better then the knockoff.
I've Rated Half Blood: (1/5) Birds.
