Seventeen-year-old Florence Waverley is out of her depth. Literally. Kidnapped and taken below the waves to the mer world of Niemela, she is the ultimate gift for merman Prince Kiren: a human familiar tied to his side. But nothing is what it seems amid the beauty and danger of a dark ocean.
Every Niemelan has a role to play, from the mermaids who weave towers out of kelp to the warriors who fight sea monsters. But in trying to survive, Florence will end up in the middle of a war between the mer and the Darkness. A conflict that will push her between two brothers: Kiren, the charmer inexplicably drawn to both her and the monsters; and Rolan, the loner who has been pushing her away since the day they met. But in order to take a stand--and find out where she belongs--Florence will have to risk it all: her life, her heart... and her very soul.
My Thought on Florence:
Florence is a one of a kind mermaid book.
I am not into mermaids but his book I fell in love with! This is not your Little Mermaid pretty mermaid wants legs to live happily ever after. This is girl gets taken under and but is only wanted for an evil reason. Florence is the kind of girl who sits at the back of the bus and doesn't talk to anyone nor does she have friends. A bit awkward and very much on the outside looking in.
The mer-people are not all friendly and they all do not share the same nice intentions and that is what made this book so great for me. Not everyone wants to hold your hand and sing a lovely little tune. In fact the majority of the mer-people don't even want her there. Throughout all that Florence learns a great lesson and finds a place where she does belong.
Cho started the adventure on as soon as the first chapter. The adventures of Florence and the princes is fun and something I would not have expected to turn out the way it did. The darkness and the Wise Ones were a bit of a mystery that had me going until I finished the book! I really hope there is a sequel because I want to know how they figure out their situation.
Go forth and read this new and unique story! Read it! No really. I recommend it. And It just came out today! GO GO GO!
I rated Florence:(5/5)
