Barbara Rayne Interview & Giveaway!

Today I have a great Indie Author. She is the author of 'Nette' and she is here with us to answer a few questions! She is Barbara Rayne!!
I have read and reviewed 'Nette' and you can read it HERE.
Hello Barbara! Welcome to booksbooks&morebooks! I'm very happy to have you here today!
Graphic quote from Nette
Nette is one female character who knows how to handle  things! :D

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
There used to be a time when I wasn’t writing – back when I was three years old. After that, whenever I had something that could leave a mark, I wrote or drew. You’ll always find numerous papers around me, and God forbid you should ever need to find something in my bag. I swear, you could put the tree back together with the amount of paper in there. Not proud of it, but what the Hell, I’m a mess. Creative mess, as I like to put it :) I tend to get lost in my imagination, create new plots up there in the lalaland of my mind, but the Wicked Witch of the West put a curse on me, so I tend to forget, as well. Thus, the notes. The downside of it all is, when I get to the actual writing, I lose the will to find the notes in that never-ending slush pile in my bag. Now and then I get the urge to get to the bottom of it, to sort it all out, keep what can be used, throw what cannot, but who has the patience to go through senseless scribbles? Not me…
Creative mess is good. Personally I'm a chaotic mess but what can we do right.

Alright, lets get down to some serious questions, shall we. Tell us, do you prefer chocolate covered strawberries or chocolate covered bananas?
Chocolate covered strawberries! Wait… this was a question about fruit, right? ;)
Haha yes it was. :D

What is it that you do when you're not writing awesome adventure books?
My reckless nature has a hedonistic side to it. I love to spend time in my favorite coffee shop, catch some mild sunshine, sip coffee, and read. I bow to the digital era, because now when people see me sitting for hours and reading, they see a busy woman with a laptop, and not a weirdo with a five inch book as they used to. How come reading is never cool?
Coffee shops are awesome!

Please share with us your writing style in twitter form. 140 characters or less. Go!
When it comes to #self-publishing, my experience is best described by this video: http://youtu.be/U4izhdY-quE#laughing_all_day

(Sorry, couldn’t resist, I actually tweeted that one a minute ago. Here’s the normal one)

The most talented writer in the world is the life itself, and my books are alternative scenarios of what I read in it.
Awesome!

I know many of us like to listen to music while we're reading or writing. Are you the same? And if so can you share a few songs or artists you prefer to listen to.
Oh, I am! Actually, music helps me to concentrate even better. It overrides all other noises making it easier for me to shut it all out and be completely in the book. Lately, I have been listening to a young Belgian musician named Milow, because his voice has something calming and the music itself is not overly aggressive.
Same here! I'm going to have to check out this Milow!

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
The stigma of being self-published, therefore less worthy, is the toughest in my eyes. On the other hand, I received an email from a reader that read all my books, asking when the next one was due. There is no better compliment than having someone read the entire opus (khm opus being three books), and wanting more, especially when the books are all different genre.
No worries, you're readers know how incredible your books are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finish the sentence. If I could meet any character from any book I would love to meet.....
Don Juan Matus from Carlos Castaneda’s books
Ohhh!! :D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is Nette fashioned after a particular person or is she pure imagination?
Unfortunately, she is fictional, but who knows, maybe some of us would be just like her given the same conditions.

Good point. I think a lot of us have a little Nette in us.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You're stranded on a deserted island. You're only allowed to bring 3 things. What would they be?
Most definitely a knife, because you always need to cut something. A blanket – I get cold even during summer nights. A picture of my loved ones, because faces fade from memory pretty fast… at least from mine (that darn Wicked Witch of the West curse again).
Good choices!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
Blue orb, of course. I would be invincible! Superman can bite me!
I love the blue orb but I'm all Superman! :P
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you working on anything at the moment? If so could you give us a tiny little taste as to what it's about?
I’m in the middle of my fourth book whose working title is “Barriers”. The world I’m creating is a dire one, contemporary, dystopian, and very chilling. You could wake up tomorrow and find yourself living in it, facing all the barriers of such society – from global to personal level – and believe me, those barriers are huge and here to stay.
Ohhhhh very intriguing!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
I love it when I get stuck in the middle of the story, and I have to think of a way to get the main character out of a situation, or there will be no book. It’s funny because I got him/her into that situation, and all I need to do to solve it, is rewrite the scene, but noooo… it’s a dare! It happens every time.
Like a puzzle!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hollywood had approached you to make Nette into a movie. Who would you cast as Nette?
Oh, that’s a tough one. Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman, or Kate Beckinsale come to mind. But I’ll have to see how they read the script first :D
Personally, I think Kate Beckinsale would be perfect! She can pull off the Nette attitude. :D
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
Yeah! If it weren't for you, who would I write for?
And we appreciate it! :D
